Policemen suspended for Rs.500 bribe
June 9th, 2011 - 1:01 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, June 9 (IANS) Two policemen have been suspended and two Home Guards sacked here for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs.500 from the driver of a sports utility vehicle.
Head Constable Akhtar Khan and Constable Balwant Singh are facing the heat. The Home Guards were identified as Prem Singh and Gulab Singh.
According to police, they took Rs.500 from driver Harpreet Singh, warning he would be fined otherwise. Harpreet was coming from Jalandhar.
Harpreet Singh contacted senior officials of the Chandigarh Traffic Police. A probe uncovered the truth.
On May 8, a constable was suspended for talking a bribe of Rs.500 from a car driver.
