Policemen brutally beat up youth in Jharkhand

Ranchi, March 25 (IANS) Policemen in this Jharkhand capital city brutally beat up a youth after he allegedly hit the chief of a police station here Tuesday. The youth, Kawaljeet, first punched Mohmmad Nehal, officer in charge of a police station, when he was stopped near a check post, according to the police. Following the punch, the police official’s mouth suffered a cut and it was bloodied.

This infuriated the policemen. They started assaulting the youth. He was taken to the police station where the policemen rained more blows on him with sticks.

M.S. Bhatia, senior superintendent of police of Ranchi, said: “The youth first punched on the mouth of the police officer. We will find out about what happened to the youth inside the police station.”

The incident took place at a check post near the city railway station. The police have put several check posts in Ranchi in view of the municipal elections held Tuesday.
