Policeman found murdered near Metro station

New Delhi, Oct 16 (IANS) A policeman was found murdered near a Metro station in north Delhi, police said Sunday.

“Constable Harkesh Meena, 23, was found in a pool of blood with a stab injury on the right side of his chest near Adarsh Nagar Metro station around 10 p.m. Saturday,” said a police officer.

Meena, who was not in uniform, was taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

“Meena, inducted in Delhi Police as a constable in 2010, was going to meet somebody in Adarsh Nagar after finishing his duty from Narela,” Deputy Commissoner of Police Meenu Chaudhary told IANS.

The victim is from Rajasthan and was unmarried. He was living in the police barracks in Malviya Nagar in south Delhi, police said.

“It appears to be a case of a robbery but no angle can be ignored. We have rounded up many people for investigation,” Chaudhary added.
