New Delhi, April 26 (IANS) Two days after 18-month-old Ishan was allegedly kidnapped by his maid from south Delhi, police Tuesday said she might have taken the child away out of “fondness” but were clueless about their whereabouts.

“We are yet to make any headway in the case. Fifteen teams have been sent to various parts of the country to find them,” a senior police officer said.

Ishan was kidnapped by 19-year-old Seema from Maharani Bagh Sunday. She was hired by the child’s family just 10 days ago without any verification.

According to police, Seema, hailing from Jharkhand, took the child for a walk and did not return. Ishaan’s parents were at home at the time.

“A police team has been sent to Seema’s hometown in Jharkhand,” he added.

He said that since the family has not yet received any ransom call, it appears as if the maid took away the boy out of fondness.

Police have announced a reward of Rs.50,000 for anyone giving information about them and a case under Section 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered.

“Anyone having any information about the boy or the maid can contact the Station House Officer of New Friends Colony police station on 0-9868188811 or 011-26834563 or 011-26934863,” the officer added.

Over 550 children have gone missing from Delhi in 2011. In April alone, at least 173 such cases were registered.
