Police want to conduct narco test on Kobad Ghandy
October 20th, 2009 - 9:03 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 20 (IANS) Expressing their inability to obtain information from Communist Party of India-Maoist leader Kobad Ghandy, the Delhi Police Tuesday sought court permission to conduct narco analysis test on him.
Moving an application before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja, Delhi Police contended that Ghandy was not divulging any useful information during interrogation and the police force needs scientific help to bring out information regarding his plans in the capital.
The court, which was to hear his partly heard bail plea, reserved its order on both applications till Wednesday.
Police also submitted that despite his counsel’s submission that Ghandy will cooperate during interrogation, he did not do so.
Ghandy’s release was sought by Maoists in Jharkhand in exchange for Inspector Francis Induwar, whose beheaded body was later recovered.
Ghandy is now in 14 days’ judicial custody.
