Police training unit opened in Ghaziabad
January 16th, 2012 - 9:40 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Ghaziabad, Jan 16 (IANS) A training school of the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPRD) to impart latest investigation techniques to sleuths of central and state intelligence agencies was inaugurated here Monday.
Speaking to IANS, BPRD Director General Vikram Srivastava said the Central Detective Training School (CDTS) will operate out of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Academy building here till its own premises adjacent to it was ready.
The school will train not only CBI personnel but also investigators of other central and state agencies.
It will also impart education to the investigation agencies of friendly countries like Nepal and Bhutan.
“The syllabus comprises latest investigation techniques, including the seizure of digital evidence and collecting evidence from the traffic accident sites and sending it to forensic laboratories,” Srivastava added.
Speaking after inaugurating the unit, CBI Director A.P. Singh said the BPRD was part of the agency as its crime records statistics and research division till 1963.
But later, the government decided to have a separate organisation for police research and the BPRD came into existence Aug 28, 1970.
