Police seize Maoist arms, explosives in Orissa
November 28th, 2009 - 4:13 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Bhubaneswar, Nov 28 (IANS) Police personnel have seized at least seven double barrel guns and about 2.5 kg of explosives Saturday from a village in Orissa’s Koraput district. They were meant for Maoists, an official said.
A team raided a village under Bandhugaon police station area and also found several other items including 150 pairs of Maoist uniforms, one wireless communication set and Maoist literature, Deputy Inspector General of Police Sanjeeb Panda told IANS.
They were seized from different places in one village, Panda said without disclosing the name of the village.
Maoists are active in more than half of the state’s 30 districts. Koraput district, about 500 km from here, is considered a Maoist hotbed.
