September 15th, 2010 - 5:33 pm ICT by IANSPatiala (Punjab), Sep 15 (IANS) Punjab police Wednesday claimed to have arrested a drug smuggler and recovered contraband worth Rs.10 crore from his possession.
According to the police, they arrested Buta Singh alias Laadi, a resident of Tarn Taran town, and recovered two kg of heroin and a motor cycle from his possession.
“This high-quality heroin is worth Rs.10 crore in the international market. Our investigation is on and we are interrogating the accused to ascertain the actual source of this contraband and his other links in the state,” said Gurpreet Singh Gill, senior superintendent of police, Patiala.
He added: “This is one of the major seizures by Patiala police. On Aug 24, we had arrested one person and recovered two kg heroin from him. We suspect that these drugs were smuggled from Pakistan through the border districts. We are also coordinating with other districts’ police in this case.”
