Police officer shot dead in Islamabad
October 15th, 2011 - 5:53 pm ICT by IANSIslamabad, Oct 15 (IANS) A police officer was shot dead when he tried to protect a woman from her ex-husband in Islamabad, the Dawn newspaper reported Saturday.
Police officer Riaz Nadeem received two bullets in his chest and died on the spot. The woman and a police constable were injured.
Masood Elahi, the woman’s former husband, opened indiscriminate fire at them when he saw a police escort accompanying Gulshan Bibi to her son’s school.
She alleged that her husband, who divorced her a decade ago, has been threatening her of dire consequences if she did not marry him again.
The accused has been arrested.
