Police in Ludhiana fire in air to quell protesters
December 5th, 2009 - 2:27 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Ludhiana, Dec 5 (IANS) Police in this largest city of Punjab fired in the air and lobbed tear gas on Sikh protesters who tried to disrupt a religious conference of controversial sect leader Ashutosh Maharaj here Saturday.
At least 10 vehicles, including of the police, were damaged by the protesters on the Ludhiana-Chandigarh road.
Conservative Sikhs oppose the teachings of Ashutosh Maharaj.
