Police help recover mobile phones worth Rs.1 mn

Panchkula (Haryana), May 31 (IANS) The cyber branch of the Haryana police has helped mobile users in the state recover lost handsets worth nearly Rs.1 million in the last seven months. Set up in October 2007, the cyber branch has been taking the assistance of mobile companies to recover mobile phones that were reported lost or stolen.

“The mobile sets are traced, using technology available with the mobile companies, through the IMEI number of each set,” a cyber branch official said.

The branch has been able to recover 143 mobile sets so far, 18 of them in May, the official said.
