Manmohan SinghNew Delhi, Feb 6 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who is recuperating after a coronary bypass surgery, has now started working from his home - in fact, working more than what the doctors would recommend, the PM’s personal physician said.”The prime minister has been meeting some visitors, having discussions on important matters and doing some official work from home. In fact, he is working more than what we would have recommended,” Dr K.S. Reddy, the prime minister’s personal physician, told IANS.

Besides his family members, most of the visitors meeting Manmohan Singh at his 7 Race Course Road residence have been senior government officials.

Manmohan Singh, 76, underwent a coronary bypass surgery Jan 24 to remove five arterial blockages. The PM was operated upon by an 11-member panel of doctors led by Dr Ramakant Panda at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). He was discharged Feb 1.

“Ideally, it is advised that the prime minister meets visitors only after two weeks of the surgery, when his stiches are removed. He will be able to work after four weeks and come back to his normal schedule and travel after six weeks. But he has started working and recovering faster that what we expected,” Reddy said about the prime minister who is known to be a workaholic.

Besides his normal vegetarian diet of roti, dal, dahi (curd), the prime minister is also being administered supplements, Reddy said.

“The PM has been very cheerful. He is undergoing physiotherapy and has been walking around the house,” he added.
