PM to open anti-corruption meet Friday

New Delhi, Oct 20 (IANS) Aiming to strengthen the country’s anti-corruption mechanism, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will inaugurate the 18th biennial conference of the Central Bureau of Investigation and state anti-corruption agencies Friday.
The prime minister will also present the President’s Police Medals for distinguished service to CBI officers.
According to officials, apart from an appraisal of anti-corruption apparatus in the country, the two-day meet will discuss issues like combating corruption for economic development, attachment and forfeiture of property, challenges in investigation of dispropotionate assets cases, need for strengthening state anti-corruption machinery and Lokayukta models in some states.
