New Delhi, Aug 28 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Sunday met President Pratibha Patil and discussed parliament’s consensus resolution on the Lokpal bill as demanded by Anna Hazare to end his fast.
Hazare broke his 12-day fast Sunday following the parliament resolution Saturday.
The meeting between the prime minister and president lasted for about half-an-hour, said a communique from the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
“The prime minister briefed the president about the ongoing session of the parliament and also on the consensus resolution passed in both houses of the parliament on August 27, 2011 on matters relating to the Lokpal Bill,” said the statement.
Hazare, 74, was fasting in support of a strong and effective Lokpal that could curb corruption at high places.
