PM announces interim relief for cyclone-hit areas

New Delhi, Jan 10 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Tuesday announced an interim relief of Rs.500 crore for Tamil Nadu and Rs.125 crore for Puducherry which were badly affected by Cyclone Thane.
“The interim relief based on the preliminary reports is Rs.500 crore for Tamil Nadu and Rs.125 crore for Puducherry,” a statement issued here said.
Areas of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry were affected by Cyclone Thane in the last week of December.
A central government team is currently visiting the affected areas and will be submitting its report based on which a final relief will be sanctioned.
