Hyderabad/Bangalore, March 28 (IANS) Karnataka ministers G. Janardhana Reddy and B. Sriramulu Monday escaped unhurt when a tyre of their chartered plane burst during landing at the Hyderabad airport, officials said.

State Tourism Minister Reddy, a mining baron, and Health Minister Sriramulu were on their way from Bellary in Karnataka to New Delhi and had stopped at Hyderabad for refuelling when the incident happened.

“A tyre of the plane burst on landing,” Reddy’s spokesperson said in a statement in Bangalore.

Reddy later left for New Delhi by another aircraft while Sriramulu, his close associate, cancelled the trip, the spokesperson said.

The aircraft had six passengers - the two ministers and their personal assistants.

The aircraft was stuck on the runway of the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport for 10 minutes but the incident did not affect flight operations, airport officials told IANS in Hyderabad.
