May 31st, 2011 - 10:37 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, May 31 (IANS) With around 700 cases of missing children in the capital this year so far, Delhi Police Tuesday urged parents to photograph their children regularly so their pictures can be widely circulated if they go missing.
The advice came as the police launched an awareness programme “Pehchaan - safeguarding the childhood” to educate parents residing in resettlement colonies and slums in west Delhi.
“The programme is to increase awareness among parents about the need to keep an eye on their children, and on suspicious people visiting the area and to regularly photograph their children so that during any mishap, widespread publicity and dissemination of information can be done at the earliest,” said Additional Commissioner of Police V. Renganathan.
The officer also said that a recent photograph of the victim helps in the search and rescue.
A photography camp was organised at at Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s community centre at Ranhola.
“During the camp, around 60 parents along with kids came for a briefing and a digital photograph of the kids were taken and then handed over to their parents,” said Renganathan.
The officer also said that awareness programme will carried out at various regions in west Delhi.
