New Delhi, Sep 13 (IANS) A photo of a part-time maid, suspected to be involved in the murder of a 70-year-old retired woman Income Tax officer here, was released Thursday, police said.
Maid Nandini was employed by victim Gurjeet Kaur at her Rohini house in north Delhi two weeks before her killing that was detected Wednesday evening.
The former Income Tax officers was strangled and her hands and legs were tied with ropes and her mouth taped.
“We are suspecting Nandini as it came to light during investigations that she had introduced herself as Sonia or Sonu at some other places where she was working,” said M.A. Rizvi, additional deputy commissioner of police.
During investigation, it came to light that Nandini had been negotiating with Kaur for buying an old sofa from her.
Kaur informed her daughter Inderpal Grover Wednesday on phone that Nandini and her husband were coming to her house to take the sofa.
The colony guard also informed police that he had seen the maid and two men come out of the house Wednesday afternoon.
“Kaur’s second part-time maid found her body lying on a bed Wednesday evening and raised an alarm. During investigations, police procured the video footage of the suspect woman from a shop where she was employed a few weeks back,” said Rizvi.
Kaur had been living alone for the past few years after her husband’s death and her daughters lived elsewhere. Her son lives abroad.
