Philippine national detained for drug peddling

New Delhi, March 25 (IANS) A Philippine national has been detained at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) for allegedly concealing contraband in his body, officials said Tuesday. Customs officials nabbed Ronaldo Garcia Elsenique, 42, at the transit hall of the IGIA just before he was to board Indian Airlines flight to Kuala Lumpur Monday evening.

Elsenique was travelling from Kabul to Kuala Lumpur.

“The Philippine national was taken for a medical examination and capsules containing narcotics, suspected to be heroin, were recovered. He would be arrested once the contraband is verified,” said an official at the airport.
