Petty contractor, driver found dead in Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 26(IANS) Two people, including a contractor who had gone to collect his dues from a house owner, were found dead in separate incidents in Delhi, the police said Tuesday. The petty contractor’s body was found hanging from a tree in a deserted area in Sangam Vihar.

“Ravinder, a mason-cum-contractor, was missing since Monday night. His body was found hanging from a tree today (Tuesday) morning,” a police official said.

His cousin Umesh Mandal and uncle Bharat Mandal told the police that Ravinder had constructed the house of Pratap in Sangam Vihar a few weeks back, and Monday night he went to colelct his dues from the house owner.

When he didn’t return home, the family members began looking for him. Then they informed the police.

Ravinder’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination and the police are waiting for the report to establish whether Ravinder was killed or he committed suicide.

“No one has been arrested in the case as yet,” a police official said.

In the other case, the body of a 45-year-old driver was found in Najafgarh area of southwest Delhi.

A police official said: “Ratan Lal used to work as a driver with a private firm. His body was found from a deserted area in Najafgarh Monday night.”

Lal was a resident of Dwarka.

“The body does not bear any injury marks. It has been sent for post-mortem examination,” the police official said.
