Oct. 16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A man has been named in the incident of assault on the British singer Leona Lewis. According to the authorities, 29 year old Peter Kowalczyk is the one who had launched the assault on Lewis, after which he was taken in to custody by the police.

In the incident that had taken place during a book signing spree at the Waterstone book store in the Piccadilly Square in London on Wednesday afternoon [where she was signing the copies of her autobiography for fans], Peter had lunged at Lewis while attempting to seek an autograph from her. In the following seconds, he had landed a hard punch on her temple with his fist, that sent the singer staggering backwards exclaiming with shock and surprise.

According to the Metropolitan Police, Peter, who is a resident of south London, has been placed under arrest under the Mental Health Act. He is supposed to be appearing before the court at the City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court on the 26th of October. Presently, he is however held in a psychiatric hospital, where he had been rushed to after his arrest.

According to the reports about the incident, it has been highlighted that it was an act that had been spurred by jealousy. It now appears that Peter had vented his ire on Lewis because he had been rejected at the same talent hunt show that she had won [ITV1]. It was in a state of extreme agitation and envy that he had reportedly waited up for as long as 5 hours in the queue just so that he could let loose his frustration.
