PETA criticises Witherspoon
November 2nd, 2011 - 1:41 pm ICT by IANSLondon, Nov 2 (IANS) Animal rights group PETA has criticised actress Reese Witherspoon after she was spotted carrying a designer bag made of python skin.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has written a letter to the 35-year-old after she was seen revealing the price of the Chloe bag, reports contactmusic.com.
“No matter how much Reese paid for the bag, the animals paid a much higher price,” said the statement issued by PETA.
“Every year, millions of snakes are impaled on hooks or nailed to trees by their heads and skinned alive. We can’t imagine that she’d wish to contribute to this hidden suffering, especially for something as frivolous as a fashion accessory that can be replicated with no bloodshed.”
