New Delhi, Oct 14 (IANS) Accusing Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati of wasting public money over the park in Delhi’s suburban Noida she inaugurated Friday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Friday said that the people will give her their reply in the coming state elections.
“In a democracy, saying that because we have majority, we can waste public money… at some point of time, people will raise their voice against it,” BJP leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy said.
“The people of Uttar Pradesh will give their reply to Mayawati in the coming assembly elections,” he said.
Mayawati Friday inaugurated a Rs.684 crore park dedicated to the Dalit cause in Delhi’s sattelite town of Noida. With statues of 24 elephants, the symbol of her Bahujan Samaj Party, and of Dalit icons B.R. Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram and of herself, the 82-acre Rashtriya Dalit Prerna Sthal and Green Garden has been a subject of massive controversy.
The assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh will be held early in 2012.
The BJP has been eyeing a victory in the polls. Former party president and chief minister Rajnath Singh is at present undertaking a ‘yatra’ in the state to propagate the party’s views.
