New Delhi, Feb 9 (IANS) Four hundred “peace commandos” will be deployed across the national capital Feb 14 to protect couples celebrating Valentine’s Day from any attack by the moral vigilantes.

“Peace commandos of the party will be deployed in various parts of Delhi Feb 14 - Valentine Day. The teams are well trained in judo and karate and they would be armed with red chillies and pepper spray,” Delhi Pradesh National Panthers Party (DPNPP) president Sanjoy Sachdev said here Monday.

“A befitting lesson would be taught to those obstructing or opposing the Valentine Day celebrations,” said Sachdev. The commandos will also distribute ’surprise gifts’ to those celebrating the V-Day without fear.

Several organisations including Bajrang Dal and Rashtravadi Shiv Sena have given a call against celebrating Valentine’s Day.

DPNPP also appealed to those opposing the Feb 14 celebrations to leave the national capital before the V-Day. The party has even set up a helpline, 09313784375 where those facing any problem can call and seek help.

DPNPP secretary general Harsh Malhotra said: “Fifty teams will move around the city and each one will have 6-10 members. There will be more than 400 people to protect the lovers. The manufacturer of pepper spray ‘Back Off’ has also gifted some kits to the party for this noble cause.”

The party has also given a slogans like “Celebrate Valentine’s day fearlessly (Nirbhay ho kar manao Valentine’s Day).”

“If those opposing Valentine’s Day do not run away, then ‘Beat at Sight’ mode will be implemented till the police reaches and arrests the troublemakers,” said Malhotra and added that they have also sought police’s help in assisting the youth in celebrating Valentine’s Day peacefully.

Malhotra further said that teams have been deployed in areas such as Connaught Place, Delhi University’s north and south campuses, Karol Bagh, Janak Puri, Buddha Garden, Lodhi Garden, Malviya Nagar, Talkatora Garden, all Delhi Metro stations, Purana Qila, Hauz Khas Park, Green Park, South Extension, Preet Vihar, Raja Garden and Dhaula Kuan, among others.

“We have also appealed to the youth to join these teams and seek help in case of any obstruction. A lot of students have joined and many will join on the day itself,” Malhotra added.
