PDP chief Maudany Bangalore police custody till Aug 26 (Intro Night Lead)
August 18th, 2010 - 2:13 am ICT by IANSBangalore, Aug 18 (IANS) People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Abdul Nasir Maudany, an accused in the 2008 Bangalore bomb blasts, was late Tuesday handed over to the custody of Bangalore police till Aug 26.
The first Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Venkatesh Hulagi ordered police custody for Maudany, shortly after the PDP chief was flown to Bangalore from Thiruvananthapuram within hours of his arrest by Karnataka police at Anwarassery in Kollam.
The magistrate directed the police to provide medical assistance to Maudany and permit him to perform prayers and other religious activities.
Maudany is the 31st of the 32 chargesheeted for carrying out serial bomb explosions in Bangalore in July 2008. The blasts killed a woman and injured 15 others.
Maudany was arrested earlier in the day at his residence-cum-party at Anwarassery in Kollam by the Karnataka police with the help of the Kerala police under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 302, 307 for waging war against the nation and carrying on unlawful acts.
