London, Nov 23 (DPA) Tottenham Hotspur climbed out of the relegation zone in the English Premier League with a 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers Sunday.Roman Pavlyuchenko got the only goal of the game after nine minutes, with Blackburn’s hopes of finding an equalizer effectively disappearing after the 39th minute sending-off of full-back Martin Olsson.

The win, Tottenham’s sixth in eight games since Harry Redknapp replaced Juande Ramos as manager last month, lifts them to 14th.

Blackburn, meanwhile, are mired in relegation trouble, second bottom having taken just three points from their last eight games.

Blackburn began brightly, but they went behind after nine minutes.

Olsson squandered possession to Aaron Lennon, who darted down the right before cutting the ball back for Pavlyuchenko to sweep home.

The Russian striker struck the post with a back-header from David Bentley’s cross 10 minutes later.

It was Lennon, though, who led the Tottenham charge, tearing by Olsson again and again.

Already booked for a foul on the England winger, Olsson picked up a second yellow card for another lunge on Lennon and was sent off.

Without achieving much fluency, Spurs continued to dominate the second half and, although they failed to find a second goal that would have calmed nerves, they were comfortable enough in their lead.
