Part of looted money recovered in Ranchi
December 31st, 2011 - 2:53 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, Dec 31 (IANS) Police in Ranchi have recovered part of Rs.80 lakh looted in the city Friday.
An amount of Rs.25 lakh out of the total Rs.80 lakh looted from a cash van here were recovered by police, an official said.
“One person has been arrested and Rs.25 lakh recovered from him,” Saket Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police (Ranchi) told reporters Saturday.
A police team from Ranchi along with Dhanbad police arrested the man in a joint operation.
According to Kumar, efforts are on to arrest the others involved in the robbery and recover the remaining amount of money.
On Friday, four unidentified criminals hijacked a cash van in Ranchi’s upper bazaar and looted Rs.80 lakh in cash. The cash van was later found abandoned at the city’s Buti roundabout.
