The Malik Saad Memorial Sports Trust wants to start 50 sports academies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) as part of an initiative to save youth from falling into the hands of terrorists, reported Dawn.
Priority would be accorded to Bajaur, Mohmand and Waziristan tribal agencies.
The trust was set about one-and-half-year ago in the memory of police official Malik Mohammad Saad Khan.
Malik had led provincial hockey team to India where it played friendly matches with Delhi team in 2004. The tour was so successful that the Delhi team also visited Peshawar next year.
The official died in a bomb blast in Peshawar in January 2007.
