Pakistani troops violate Kashmir truce

Jammu, Aug 22 (IANS) Pakistani troops opened fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir in Poonch district but there was no retaliation from the Indian side, army sources said Friday.The intermittent firing lasted for almost an hour late Thursday night. Indian troops did not return the fire to avoid escalating tension on the LoC, the sources added.

The army, however, did not officially confirm the incident.

On Thursday morning too, Pakistani troops had opened fired in the Nowshera sector but here too, there was no retaliation from the Indian side.
