Islamambad, July 28 (IANS) Pakistan’s Supreme Court judges have pledged to protect the constitution and uphold the rule of law, saying any deviation from the statute must be resisted.

The affirmation came at a full court meeting Wednesday presided over by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry.

The meeting took place in the backdrop of civil society groups and political parties urging the government to implement superior court orders in letter and spirit, Dawn reported.

The court registrar noted there was a remarkable increase in disposal of cases due to continuous work by judges even during the summer vacation.
