Islamabad, June 4 (Xinhua) Pakistan will receive 10 refurbished F-16 fighter-jets from the US, four of which are to be supplied in June, a media report said Wednesday. The US Congress Tuesday notified the delivery of 10 refurbished F-16 fighter aircraft to Pakistan, the official Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) said.

The fighter jets are part of a consignment of 12 refurbished planes Pakistan would receive from the US. Two F-16s have already been delivered, the report said.

Pakistan will receive eight jets, four each in June and July this year, while the remaining two F-16s will be delivered subsequently.

“Pakistan is receiving the planes as a major non-NATO ally of the US and the provision signifies close defence relations between the two countries,” the APP said.

Pakistan also signed an agreement with the US in 2006 for purchase of 18 new F-16 C and F-16-D aircraft.
