Pakistan PM congratulates Obama

Barack ObamaIslamabad, Nov 5 (Xinhua) Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani Wednesday congratulated US president-elect Barack Obama saying his country looked forward to strengthening bilateral ties.”On behalf of the people and the government of Pakistan, and on my own behalf, I warmly congratulate you on your election as the 44th President of the United States,” Gilani said in a letter to Obama.

Gilani also said he looked forward to more opportunities to discuss ways to further strengthen Pakistan-US relations and to promote peace and stability in the region and beyond, according to the News Network International news agency.

President Asif Ali Zardari, who is in Saudi Arabia on an official visit, also sent a message to Obama, congratulating his victory, Pakistan’s state television reported.
