Islamabad, June 16 (IANS) The Pakistan Navy Thursday launched its fourth F-22P Frigate built with Chinese assistance during a ceremony in Karachi.

The warship was built at the Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KSEW). The country’s three other F-22P Frigates: PNS Zulfiqar, PNS Shamsher and PNS Saif were built in China.

Admiral Noman Bashir, chief of the naval staff, who was the chief guest at the launch ceremony at KSEW, praised the government for its efforts to boost defence capabilities.

He congratulated the China State Shipbuilding Company (CSSC), China Shipbuilding and Trading Company (CSTC), Hudong Zhongua shipyard and the KSEW on completing the task.

The launch of the warship was yet another example of strong Pakistan-China ties, thenews.com.pk quoted Admiral Bashir as saying.

He said this endeavour has not only strengthened the ties between the two countries but also added colour to the celebrations marking the 60 years of Pakistan-China friendship. He emphasised the need to protect sea trade routes that are close to its coast, the report said.
