Islamabad, Jan 25 (IANS) Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has emphasised the need for more cooperation between Pakistan and France in the fields of energy, trade and defence.
Gilani made the remark Tuesday while talking to newly appointed ambassador of France to Pakistan Philippe Thieband here.
They exchanged views on bilateral relations with the commitment that the cooperation between the two countries should be further enhanced during the years to come, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.
Gilani spoke of the support of the French government within the fold of the European Union for pro-actively pursuing the grant of waiver to Pakistani exports to the EU market.
He said that Pakistan has the will, capacity and resolve to defeat the scourges of militancy and extremism.
The French ambassador said that Pakistan’s contributions for peace-keeping were commendable.
French investors were keen to invest in Pakistan in the sector of energy, he said, adding that trade between the two countries had been showing positive trends and both the countries should endeavour to keep up this trend.
