Pak planes intrude Indian air space
January 19th, 2011 - 6:36 pm ICT by IANSJammu, Jan 19 (IANS) Two Pakistani aircraft entered the Indian air space in Ranbirsinghpora area along the international border in Jammu and Kashmir in a clear violation of the Indian air space, defence sources said. The two aircraft of the Pakistani army entered the border area for about a couple of minutes Monday. The Pakistani Army emblem was clearly seen on the olive green planes, the sources said.
The aircraft flew over the posts of the Border Security Force (BSF).
The 198-km international border from Kathua bordering Punjab to Akhnoor north of Jammu is manned by the BSF. The Indian army is in the second line of defence here.
These sources said that the BSF would be taking up this issue with the Pakistani counterparts to protest the air space violation.
Normally, the forces on the border are under instructions to shoot down any aircraft violating the air space, but before the troops could react, the aircraft flew black to the Pakistani side, an official added.
