Over 90 percent women in CISF perform combat duties
March 8th, 2010 - 6:04 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, March 8 (IANS) Lauding women personnel on the International Women’s Day, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Monday said 90 percent women in the force perform combat duties.
“Women in the CISF have a very important role to play, especially in the airport sector and the Delhi Metro. The CISF has the highest percentage of women amongst all the paramilitary forces,” CISF Director General N.R. Das said here at the annual press conference.
“CISF has more than 4,000 women in various ranks. More than 90 percent of these women are performing combat duties. These women have been trained to carry out all duties which their male counterpart does.
“They are also trained in handling all weapons from INSAS to AK-47 and light machine guns. We have separate all women quick reaction team wing at Delhi Metro,” he added.
