Over 7,000 held in Dubai for violating immigration laws

Dubai, May 20 (IANS) Over 7,000 violators of immigration laws have been arrested in Dubai over the last two months, according to the police, WAM news agency reported Tuesday. Sources at the Dubai Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) said that 7,830 immigration law violators were nabbed during raids launched under an operation codenamed ‘Deterrent Ring’.

The aim of the operation was to maintain security and it would continue, the sources added.
