Over 2,500 pirated CDs seized, 1 held
February 1st, 2011 - 8:02 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, Feb 1 (IANS) A music shop owner was arrested here and over 2,500 pirated CDs and DVDs recovered from his possession, police said Tuesday.According to the police, the accused was identified as Ankit Gupta, owner of Riddhi music shop in Sector 44 here.
“We had a tip-off that Gupta was in the business of pirated CDs and DVDs of latest movies and music albums for the last few months. We laid a trap and conducted a raid at Riddhi music shop late Monday. Police recovered 2,664 pirated CDs and DVDs,” said a police official here.
“Ankit Gupta has been booked under various sections of the Copyright Act. We are interrogating him and trying to ascertain the source of these pirated CDs. We are hopeful of making more arrests and recoveries in the coming days,” he added.
