May 3rd, 2010 - 8:16 pm ICT by IANSBhubaneswar, May 3 (IANS) A police officer was arrested in Orissa’s Bhadrak district Monday on charges of raping a woman, an official said.
The woman was raped when she went to the official residence of Narayan Chandra Nayak, the inspector in-charge of Dhusauri police station. “Nayak was arrested today (Monday) and produced before a court,” sub-divisional police officer Suresh Das told IANS.
On April 30, the 30-year-old woman went to meet Nayak in connection with a dowry complaint she had lodged against her husband and in-laws.
Das said the victim has complained that Nayak called her to his official residence near the police station on the promise of providing justice, but raped her. The woman is a resident of Lenkasahi village.
