Orissa may seek listing of two PSUs

Bhubaneswar, Aug 4 (IANS) Orissa may soon seek listing of two of its well performing public sector undertakings (PSUs) on the stock exchange, officials said Thursday.

As many as 24 of state’s 32 PSUs are making profits. They include Orissa Mining Corporation Ltd (OMC), Orissa Hydro Power Corporation Ltd (OHPC), Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) and Orissa Power Generation Corporation (OPGC).

The discussion regarding the listing came during a review of the state enterprises held in the state secretariate, a state public enterprise department official told IANS.

The meeting was chaired by Finance and Public Enterprise Department Minister Prafulla Ghadai and attended by senior government officials and chief executives of all the state public enterprises, he said.

Among the two prime candidates considered for listing are OMC and OHPC, the official said. However the matter is still only in a discussion stage.

Another senior official who attended the meeting said the government has to do a lot of preparatory works to initiate the process. Besides it has to be decided by the state cabinet, he said.
