Order on Teesta’s plea reserved till Friday
May 25th, 2011 - 11:35 pm ICT by IANSAhmedabad, May 25 (IANS) The Gujarat High Court Wednesday reserved its order till Friday on a petition filed by social activist Teesta Setalvad seeking to quash a criminal complaint against her.
The complaint against her was made in the Panderwada case, in which bodies of victims of the 2002 communal riots were exhumed in 2006 - four years after they were buried by the district administration - in Panderwada village in the Panchmahal district.
Justice G.B. Shah reserved the order for Friday.
Setalvad, who represents NGO Citizens for Justice and Peace, is shown in records as an absconding accused.
She filed the plea after she was summoned by Godhra police in connection with recording of her statement on the incident.
The government claimed before the court that she was not cooperating with the investigators.
Kamini Jaiswal, counsel for Setalvad, contended that the state government, with malafide intentions, has been harassing the petitioner.
