December 10th, 2009 - 2:04 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 10 (IANS) The operations conducted by suspected self-styled south India chief of the Pakistani militant outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba T. Nazeer and his accomplice were serious, Inspector General of Police Tomin J. Thachenkeri who is heading the Kerala police team interrogating the duo said Thursday.
Vital leads have now been sourced from Nazeer, Thachenkeri told IANS over phone from Bangalore.
“Today again I am interrogating him and by now it has come to light that Kerala was a place which he used effectively for his activities and we have got very valuable information in the past few days,” he said.
Both Nazeer and his accomplice Shafas were picked up near the Meghalaya border last week and were brought to Bangalore where he was allegedly involved in the bomb blast that took place last year.
“I am unable to disclose all what has come to light but I can say that he sourced materials to make bombs from a few places in Kerala. He had people to help him,” said Thachenkeri.
Already one person who helped Nazeer has been picked up by the Bangalore police with the help of the Kerala police from Thaliparambu in Kannur district.
“Three more people have been picked up from Kannur and the right word you can use is that they are not arrested but they are in custody. Without any doubt I can say that the investigations and the interrogation are going in the right direction,” he said.
He also added that he will continue to be in Bangalore till the official who heads the Anti Terror Squad in Kerala who is right now abroad returns and joins the interrogation.
