New Delhi, July 1 (IANS) Two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants Tuesday shot dead a man and injured his neighbour who tried to resist their attempt to snatch a gold chain in northeast Delhi, the police said. The assailants shot a bullet in Nanhe’s abdomen and pumped another in his neighbour Haroon’s leg when the two tried to foil their chain snatching attempt in Arsh Vihar area of Nand Nagri area around 8 a.m.

The police said the two injured were taken to the Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital, where Nanhe was declared brought dead. Haroon was stated to be recovering.

“We have fanned out teams to arrest the assailants,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast Delhi) Jaspal Singh.

The incident came barely a few days after a 25-year-old woman was shot at during a scuffle with a chain snatcher in Chilla Village in east Delhi. The motorcycle borne assailants fled after snatching chain and earrings from her in broad daylight.
