One of the four who shot, robbed man arrested
June 6th, 2010 - 10:30 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, June 6 (IANS) One of the robbers who shot a man resisting a robbery in east Delhi has been arrested, police said Sunday.
Ram Kumar, 19, was arrested from the Seemapuri area of east Delhi Friday.
“We have arrested one of the robbers who shot a man who resisted a robbery attempt on him on May 29,” a police official said.
Maya Ram and his friend were surrounded near the district park in Dilshad Garden by four robbers, who asked them to hand over all their belongings.
“Ram resisted handing over the belongings and at his refusal, the four all started beating them. Suddenly one of the robbers took out a pistol and fired on him,” the official said.
After shooting Ram, the robbers took away the valuable belongings of the two and fled the spot.
Ram Kumar was arrested after a tip-off. He denied his involvement in the incident but on sustained interrogation, he broke down and confessed.
Efforts are on to apprehend the remaining accused and recover the robbed property, the official added.
