New Delhi, Oct 2 (IANS) One man was killed and another was in critical condition after two groups clashed in east Delhi over a goat, the police said Thursday. The incident occurred in Lakshmi Nagar area of east Delhi late Wednesday.
Sunil, a resident of Mandawali, and some of his neighbours was trying to catch a goat when they were stopped by two brothers Dilshad, 24, and Imran, 22. An argument broke out between the two groups and led to a minor scuffle, the police said.
One and a half hours later, Sunil returned with two more men, Wasim and Nadim. They were all armed with swords and knives and attacked Dilshad and Imran.
Imran died on the spot while Dilshad was seriously injured and was admitted to a hospital. His condition is said to be critical.
After the attack, infuriated family members and friends of the victims torched some motorcycles in the area.
The police said they have arrested the three accused and a case of murder has been registered against them.
“A case of rioting has also been registered against those who set the motorbikes on fire,” said a senior police official.
“We have also suspended three constables, Dharmender, Pankaj Rana and Bhupinder as they failed to control the situation,” the official added.
