Bangalore, Jan 16 (IANS) Rebello Russell Terrance, an Indian crew member on board the Italian cruise ship which ran aground in the Mediterranean Sea, is missing and has not been traced yet, External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna said here Monday.

“We are making efforts to trace him. His brother Kevin has reached Italy. Our ambassador to Italy is on the way to the mishap spot,” Krishna told reporters here on the margins of an event.

Clarifying that the government has no information yet if Indian passengers were on board the ill-fated cruise ship, Krishna said a control room has been set up in New Delhi and Rome to coordinate rescue and relief operations.

“The ambassador has also deputed two officials to assist the Italian authorities in tracing Rebello. We will share any further information with the media as and when we get it,” he said.

Italian liner Costa Concordia capsized after it struck a reef Friday night near the port of Isola del Giglio, an island in a maritime nature reserve off the Tuscan coast.

Fourteen people were still missing Monday, more than 48 hours after the huge vessel capsized killing at least six and injuring more than 60.
