One held for duping IIT aspirants
September 3rd, 2010 - 9:04 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Sep 3 (IANS) Delhi Police Friday arrested a man who used to dupe students by promising them admission in the premier Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).
The accused has been identified as Vinay Kumar who used to cheat IIT aspirants by posing as an IIT pass-out and promising them a seat in the college through the management quota.
Kumar was arrested from Najafgarh area on a complaint filed by Rajiv Ranjan Kumar Aug 1.
Rajiv had alleged that his son, Animesh Ranjan, had been duped of more than Rs.3 lakh on the pretext of getting him admitted to IIT-Kharagpur.
“Animesh Ranjan had come in contact with Kumar during his stay in Delhi, where he was preparing for IIT entrance examination,” a police officer said.
Several fake documents including ID cards of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), engineering degree of IIT-Kharagpur and appreciation letters from Microsoft, Gurgaon were recovered from him.
