One dead in Bengal train collision
January 8th, 2012 - 12:53 am ICT by IANSKolkata, Jan 7 (IANS) One person was killed and six others injured as a local train collided with a stationary train in West Bengal’s Nadia district Saturday, a railway official said.
“The accident happened when the Shantipur-Sealdah local hit another Sealdah-Shantipur local which was waiting at the platform of the Fulia station,” said Samir Goswami, chief public relations officer, Eastern Railways.
An off-duty railway gateman who was traveling in the Sealdah-Shantipur local died and six other passengers were injured.
The local administration along with the railways has already begun the relief operations.
