One dead, five missing as boat capsizes in Orissa
December 4th, 2009 - 6:37 pm ICT by IANSBhubaneswar, Dec 4 (IANS) One man died and five other people, mostly from Andhra Pradesh, were missing after a boat carrying 13 passengers capsized in Machhkund river in Koraput district of Orissa, police said.
“One body has been recovered. Five people are missing. Seven others swam to the shore. The boat capsized on its way to Galganda ghat of Andhra Pradesh. The passengers were returning to their village (in Andhra Pradesh) after buying goods at a village market in Padhua of Koraput district,” police Inspector Dolamani Mallick said.
Of the missing men, one is from Orissa and other passengers are from Andhra Pradesh. “The search operation is on,” Mallick added.
