One arrested for firing at Suzuki motorcycle plant
October 9th, 2011 - 11:53 pm ICT by IANSGurgaon, Oct 9 (IANS) A contractor was Sunday arrested for allegedly opening fire on the premises of Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd where workers are on strike in solidarity with their counterparts at the firm’s Manesar car plant, said police.
“The accused has been identified as Satish Kumar, a contractor. He fired three rounds in the air, to intimidate the workers and forced them to return to work. One bullet hit the wall on the premises,” said a police officer.
“An empty cartridge has been recovered at the factory premises,” said the officer.
Two of his associates, Mahesh and Om Prakash, who were also present at the spot, have been detained for questioning,”
“The incident was reported around 6 a.m in the morning. Workers at the plant alleged that they were intimidated with a gun by Satish who asked them to end the strike,” the officer added.
